$500 Million Obama Administration Program Will Help Kids 'Sit Still' in
Kindergarten

By James Zilenziger <http://www.cnsnews.com/source/90202>

Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius told CNSNews.com on
Wednesday that the administration's new $500 million early learning
initiative is designed to deal with children from birth onward to prevent
such problems as 5-year olds who "can't sit still" in a kindergarten
classroom.

"You really need to look at the range of issues, because if a 5-year-old
can't sit still, it is unlikely that they can do well in a kindergarten
class, and it has to be the whole range of issues that go into healthy child
development," Sebelius said during a telephone news conference on Wednesday
to announce the Race to the Top Early Learning Challenge.

Sebelius and Education Secretary Arne Duncan jointly announced the
$500-million program, which will provide competitive grants to states to
address issues affecting educational outcomes for children from birth to age
5.

On the conference call, CNSNews.com asked: "What were the current problems
that were found with the health, social and emotional development for
children ages birth to 5?"

Sebelius, adding on to comments from Asst. Education Secretary Joan
Lombardi, pointed to studies done in her home state of Kansas, where she
served as governor. "When we looked at 5-year olds-and we tested about half
the 5-year-olds in a relatively homogeneous state like Kansas - and found
that about half of them were not ready for kindergarten at age 5," Sebelius
said.

~snip~

Can someone explain what this quote from Sebelius means:

"You really need to look at the range of issues, because if a 5-year-old
can't sit still, it is unlikely that they can do well in a kindergarten
class, and it has to be the whole range of issues that go into healthy child
development,"

WTF?

If half of the 5 year olds in her state were not ready for kindergarten,
then maybe kindergarten is the problem. It seems to me that the real problem
here is that someone would think a 5-year-old who "can't sit still" in a
classroom is a problem.

This kind of edu-psychocational (I made that word up) thinking is why so
many of our little boys are labeled problem children. I truly am surprised
that she did not announce a new program in which the teacher can prescribe
attention deficit medication to the kids "who can't sit still."

I have a confession. I was a kindergarten drop-out, but please don't think
any less of me.

$500 million.buys a lot of Ritalin. A lot.

Nothing more than a bunch of pill popping leftists trying to push their pill

In the 1960s my kindergarten class never had problems like what they come up
with today. But that was before "self esteem" became an issue. All my
teacher had to do once was say, "Sit down and pay attention!" to whoever
wasn't sitting still.

There, I just saved the government $500 million.

The first step in feminizing and emasculating boys is to restrict their
physical movement. Five year old boys DON'T sit still. It isn't in their
constitution. They move and explore and even - clutch the pearls -
"wrassle". If a five year old boy isn't physically active, something is
wrong. Amazingly, young boys who are allowed to move, when called upon to
focus, are better able to do so. Imagine that.

In short, step away from our children, Sebelius, you Godless Marxist bi**h.

I just talked to a prof. at a local community college who is having trouble
getting the students to stay in their seats through the lectures. The ones
who do are all texting.
But they all have LOADS of self esteem!
The plan here is to get the kids under Big Brother's thumb early, and yeah,
drug them into submission if necessary.

Not to worry, Ginger: I was expelled from Kindergarten because I was not
able to sit still. And I was a boy.

But back in '65 they just attributed it to my being a boy, so I got a year
to work the ants and started again the next year

Excatly what year did the Ruskies drop the Attention Deficit Disorder bomb
on the U.S. ?

"Back in the day", kids like that were called spastics and eventually grew
out of it due to peer pressure (or a lack of a date on Saturday night in my
case).

One pill makes you larger,
And one pill makes you small.
And the ones that mother gives you
Don't do anything at all.
