MAD LEADERS, MAD POLICIES By Lee Duigon June 1, 2011 NewsWithViews.com Those whom God would destroy, He first makes mad. Do you ever get the feeling that the leaders of the Western world are idiots? No one can blame you for thinking so. But what if they were worse than numbskulls? What if the bosses and the experts, in addition to being blockheads, were actually stark, staring mad-and by God's will? We have the press in America shocked and disappointed <http://news.yahoo.com/a/ap/2011053/ap_on_go_ca_st_pe/US_women_at_war> that the Navy SEAL team that bagged Bin Laden didn't include any women, and Navy bureaucrats intimating that someday, for sure, they'll get around to such barbaric silliness. In British Columbia the teachers' union is telling its members not to call kids "boys and girls" anymore because "gender is a spectrum <http://bctf.ca/uploadedfiles/Public/SocialJustice/Issues/LGBTQ/Resources/Ge nderSpectrum.pdf> " and "you can be whatever you want to be." They've put it in a teachers' handbook. But the winner in this week's Wacko Derby is Germany. This deserves to be looked at in some detail. A pseudo pod of the German government called the Scientific Advisory Council on Global Environmental Change has advised that the government will have to "limit democracy" in the near future. A nodding acquaintance with history will reveal that Germany has done that before, with unhappy results. But this time it's to save the planet! No more of that "master race" stuff-this time they're gonna take away people's freedom for their own good. These altruists say that "the transformation to the climate friendly economy is as morally necessary as the abolition of slavery." Wow! I mean, I had no idea! And that this vast transformation must be consciously planned and controlled by the State. Observe with what admirable speed they come to that conclusion! Who would ever guess Germany has ever had a problem with out-of-control statism? There must be, we are told, "a new form of collective responsibility, for the sake of the climate." This presupposes that the government has the ability to set the global thermostat, but never mind. In order to establish this world-saving collective responsibility, the state will have to "provide for the social problematization of unsustainable lifestyles." What in the world does that mean? It means the state "must overcome the stakeholders and veto players. who will impede the transition to a sustainable society." The political process will have to be short-circuited, because the "decarbonization of society can only be achieved by the limitation of democracy"-and not only in Germany, but in every country in the world! (Except for North Korea and a few others, where it would not be possible to limit democracy any more than it is already-so the dictatorships are ahead of the game.) But wouldn't this "problematization"-statists really do have a gift for words-amount to stigmatization of those enemies of the people who enjoy "unsustainable lifestyles"? Does anybody get just a little bit nervous when Germans talk about allowing the government to "problematize" certain classes of people? Well, "those who do not share the ideas of sustainability would be outside of the new state eco-order." What ought to be done with such outsiders? Don't ask! This, of course, would apply to everyone who wants to live in a modern industrial society. But modern industrial society makes such a big, nasty, dirty carbon footprint! Is it right that billions of people, worldwide, should scuff their dirty shoes on Mother Earth? And as bad as it is that the peoples of the industrialized West should be making such a mess, think how much worse it would be if all the Third World countries modernized! Really, equatorial Africans with air conditioning-the horror of it! Not to worry: the council justifies all this from "the higher moral insight of its expert knowledge." Now, the world has some experience with tremendous government planning programs. China had a little spasm called "The Great Leap Forward," back in 1958-1962. By the time the Chinese government realized that this was probably the most hellacious mistake ever made by paper-pushing tyrants, at least 40 million Chinese had been done to death by it-dying of starvation, disease, exposure to the elements, violence, torture, industrial accidents: a massive human sacrifice to a man-made idol, the totalitarian state. "Decarbonization," the German thinkers admit, would mean "de-industrialization" for virtually everyone. Why else would they first have to set aside democracy? They don't think people would ever vote themselves back into the Middle Ages! Is this madness? "Climate change scientists" have been repeatedly caught lying, dodging debate, falsifying and suppressing data, passing off World Wildlife Fund newsletters as peer-reviewed scientific papers, hopping into bed with politicians to get more grant money for themselves and deny it to their critics-do honest people do such things? And who but a madman, or a thorough-going ignoramus, would believe them? Why should God drive leaders mad, and send them chasing off after civilization-ruining follies? Could it be because they're lobbying for His job? Trying to displace Him on His throne? Is there any one of God's laws that they have not scoffed at and denounced? The Bible speaks eloquently of this. "Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing? The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the Lord, and against His anointed, saying, 'Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us.' "He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh; the Lord shall have them in derision. Then shall He speak unto them in His wrath, and vex them in His sore displeasure." (Psalm 2: 1-5) And oh, by the way-how are we supposed to get women to be Navy SEALs, if there are no such things as boys and girls?
