I agree with Doc -- no hard and fast rule on bell ringing. But there might be a principle. The core guts of Open Space is people taking responsibility for what they care for. And part of the responsibility is the management of their (own) time. So for me I ring bells only at the beginning and the end of the day. In between folks have to listen to their own bells -- or is it drummer? There is a also a practical consideration. In large(r) venues when folks are really spread out you can end up doing an awful lot of bell ringing -- and I am not sure it does a bit of good. One more thing not to do!

Rolling whiteboard work well. Or use multiple sheets of flipchart paper or butcher paper taped together, and find a spot where blue tape/masking tape/painters tape will hold on the walls to attach them. 2. I have used the temple bells both for opening and closing and, at certain events, to remind folks when the session time is ending. While this latter goes counter to what some people would do, I have found that some clients prefer it. There's no hard and fast rule. ...Doc On Oct 26, 2010, at 2:00 AM, Bui Petersen wrote: > Hi everyone, > > I'm facilitating an OS forum this coming Saturday, and I have a couple of questions that I hope someone could answer. > > 1) I just noticed that the room we're using has no useable wall for posting sessions etc. None of the walls are entirely flat (bumpy, concrete pillars, window frames etc.) What have you more experience people used in such circumstances? One option I'm considering is using some moveable curtains wall (that are available) and attach some corrugated plastic to the curtain rack. It would have to be some light material because the rack is not super sturdy. But I'm sure there are other options I have not thought of. > > 2) I got some nice temple bells that I have not used before. Those of you who used them, how and when do you use them? Does anyone ever use them to remind participants that it's time for the next session to begin? Once at a very small meeting (and very short) people had difficulty wrapping up the conversation and go to the next session. Could it be that when there is only 45 minutes allocated for each session that the flow from session to session become less organic. > > FYI: we're expecting 60+ people. > > Thanks so much for your help and suggestions. > > Bui Petersen > > * > * > ========================================================== > [email protected] > ------------------------------ > To subscribe, unsubscribe, change your options, > view the archives of [email protected]: > http://listserv.boisestate.edu/archives/oslist.html > > To learn about OpenSpaceEmailLists and OSLIST FAQs: > http://www.openspaceworld.org/oslist * * ========================================================== [email protected] ------------------------------ To subscribe, unsubscribe, change your options, view the archives of [email protected]: http://listserv.boisestate.edu/archives/oslist.html To learn about OpenSpaceEmailLists and OSLIST FAQs: http://www.openspaceworld.org/oslist * * ========================================================== [email protected] ------------------------------ To subscribe, unsubscribe, change your options, view the archives of [email protected]: http://listserv.boisestate.edu/archives/oslist.html To learn about OpenSpaceEmailLists and OSLIST FAQs: http://www.openspaceworld.org/oslist
