I recall it was ralph who initiated the semi-annual oslist poetry celebration and contest, which has been a semi-regular occasion of great delight here.
one year when i was mc of the contest, Ralph began a funny, generous and heartfelt exchange of emails and i became deeply moved by his poetic skill and soul. he always to me felt like one of the elders of the Organization Transformation community which met each year in open space from the mid 1980s to a few years ago. an elder in stature tho not in age! fare well and thanks to you Ralph. I first met Ralph at the 1998 OSonOS in Monterrey. I was one of the co-hosts. The event had gotten off to a rocky start. The second morning during the opening circle, a challenging and emotional reflection began around who's "in" and who's "out". I was sitting quietly breathing, staying grounded as this remarkably intense exchange took place. When it ended, the man sitting next to me, who I didn't know -- Ralph Copleman -- turned to me and asked if I was okay. I fell in love with him in that moment. He was holding the space for me as I held the space for the group. I am grateful for the years of laughter and wisdom from Ralph, much of it archived on this list. Karen Davis, Ralph and I were to do a program in New York next week. The program will go on and Ralph will be there as that indomitable, humorous Spirit he has always been. Ralph showed up here on the list as a regular from the very beginning. I will remember him best for his soliloquy, “Everything is Moving, Everything is moving.” A very simple phrase which goes to the heart of it all, I think.
