Hi Evan,

Welcome to the list! I hope you will find this as great a resource as I do.

On the World Open Space on Open Space last month in London, I hosted a session about doing an Open Space when there is not much time. Even though we all preferred to have more time, there were also some interesting viewpoints on how to conduct short meetings. And suggestions on how to explore the possibilities of making more time available. <http://www.devotedanddisgruntled.com/events/world-open-space-open-space/reports/when-the-client-does-not-have-time/>You can find the report of the session here.

There are some awesome people involved in Open Space around the world, including Canada. I hope you will meet some of them.

Best wishes,

Koos

Hello OSLIST,

Having read through your wonderful FAQ (thanks for compiling), I noted that one of the things people appreciate are introductions from new subscribers. So that is what this is.

My name is Evan Walsh and I work full time for Engineers Without Borders Canada. As part of my role in Chapter Development I seem to do a great deal of facilitation. We run and assist others in running a great number of retreats, meetings, conferences, and off-sites throughout the year. From time to time we will include an hour or two of "Open Space". I've always enjoyed this approach but never found it as satisfying as I imagined it could be. This lead me to do some more research about Open Space. I learned that we weren't giving Open Space enough time or space to work effectively. I also learned that I am in love with the philosophy and approach that underlies Open Space.

I am incredibly excited to learn more about Open Space and eventually become acquainted with facilitating it properly. I not only feel it will be valuable to my organization, helping it meet its objectives, but I'm also excited about spreading the philosophy of self-organization, and deepening my participation in the sharing and learning about this exciting way of being/living/thinking/feeling.

I've just completed Harrison Owen's User Guide and am working through the "Non-Guide" (which lead me to this list today). I'm excited to join in on the conversation and hope to soak up as much learning from this community as I can.

Cheers,
