Tricia:

Re the idea of less linear conversations, virtual space lends itself to this of
course. Especially in the “asynchronous” form. And yet we use tools like email
and discussion forum threads that mirror live conversation with each person
speaking in turn. Something more dynamic is clearly possible. At WOSonOS, we
had one virtual conversation via a Google doc: “Open Space Technology (OST) in
Written Form: Can it be done?!”
<https://docs.google.com/document/d/1yCpzaJkw3cw-4VYEaDfwmfUhFfievWw_MwKk_VNpoY4/edit>
And I see the possibility of something more “circular” in that kind of blank
slate platform. People responded wherever they wanted within the main document,
as well as in comments on the side. In the end, something a bit more like a
“whole” might have emerged. Or at least I glimpsed the possibility of that
happening as we learn some shared conventions about how to do this more
skillfully.

Re being in circle process, here’s an image I created for the Google doc we
used to support a Maestro call yesterday:

Very simple. Of course, there are fancier platforms that show people around a
virtual table, but there was something about the homemade nature of this that
resonated.

As for your offer to contribute to “WOSonOS: Reprise,” that sounds great!
Email me personally <mailto:[email protected]> and let’s set
up a time to talk about what you want to do/learn. You can also start right
now if you like by helping to tend our Butterfly Garden
<http://bit.ly/wos2013butterfly> and by sharing some initial thoughts on our
main Google doc here.

Cheers,

Ben

This is awesome Ben and Kevin - thanks!

I was just today thinking about how we can perpetuate the momentum from the
conference. I think this will be a great way to keep it flowing.

I am very interested in experimenting with ways to experience remote/virtual
OS, and the concept of ongoing OS (I know, it is already going on all the time
and the OS list is ongoing, but there are more ways to manifest this in my
opinion!). Please let me know if you think I can contribute to any of your
efforts as I would love to learn from you!

One important question that Paul Levy raised this week is how can we encourage
more dialogue in a circle in different settings in contrast to the majority of
our communications, which remain linear, such as emails and discussion threads
- Paul, I hope I am not misrepresenting or speaking out of turn!...or perhaps,
Paul, you were just identifying this phenomenon and wondering why it remained
so?

In respect to Paul's point, I see an opportunity to bring the spirit and
sanctity of the circle into more of our daily virtual communications. I am not
sure how this would look right now or what impact it may have, but my impulse
is that it would be positive.:)

Whether you participated in WOSonOS 2013 or not, please consider joining us for
this virtual conversation to re-engage and reconnect the energies of the recent
gathering in St. Petersburg, FL. You can find more information, as well as
ways to participate in advance of the call here on our WOSonOS: Reprise Google
docs <http://www.bit.ly/wos2013reprise> : post questions for the hosts, share
thoughts and reflections, post a topic you want to initiate during the live
call or browse (and help to grow) the “Butterfly Garden.” Note that we will
once again be beta-testing MaestroConference’s “law of two feet” feature that
allows you to move yourself around the call.

Feel free to share this invite (including the attached jpeg) with anyone you
think would be interested.
