Dear Hege and Eiwor,
you came up with a catchy theme, Eiwor, just what Hege was asking for. I am not sure about the "triggy" part (my Big Webster does not know the word), maybe you meant "triggering"?
I imagine there might be a bunch more themes that would fill the bill.

In my experience, not finding a heading for an os-event in the planning meeting or the prework, has always been a sure fire sign for trouble ahead, a kind of indication that something is missing or not in place.

If this rather rare situation of not finding a heading strikes, I encourage the planning group step back (before continuing on the task of finding the Heading they all like) to look again at
---their expectation for the event
and to check once more if all
---the people needed to fulfil the expectation (breakthrough) are identified (important for the invitation) and to look at the planning group once more as they are assembled and to think a minute on whether
---everyone needed for planning the event is present.

The result of such reflection has been
---OST is not the right approach in this situation (a hidden agenda surfaces or it becomes very clear that one of the prerequisites for OST to do its thing is not in place)
---we need to meet once more with x and y being present for the planning
or, and this is the case most often
---suddenly THE heading surfaces.

Looking at this from this perspective, it is a blessing not to find a heading in the first try... a situation that benefits from stepping back (expanding the space) and have the planning group take this hurdle and not the facilitator. After all, the facilitator should not work harder than the client.

Good luck, Hege

Just occurred in my mind that they need a miracle and that is what people do
when they work in Open Space.
Good luck!

Hello wise people.

I`m doing an OS on a shipyard soon. We just had the pre-work, but we did not
manage to come up with a catchy and triggy theme....

The situation is that they really are trapped in a corner with a 2 month
delay even before they have started the project. They are up against time
and budget, and really need a breakthrough to make this work, and some real
learning to gain for the future...

Any suggestions

Hege
