Dear friends in Northamerica and in the other parts of the world, my first thoughts went to those of you on the eastcoast and then to the westcoast where a couple of friends I called were still in bed and then I had the urge to call all my kids, which I did, and then all kinds of people called me from all over Germany and people in the neighborhood in this suburb part of Berlin called and came by. Gerhard Schroeder appeared on TV, very disturbed and somber. Flags on all federal buildings in Berlin were lowered. A great surge of agonized interest and shock and also connectedness in the face of this unthinkable disaster is travelling through the communities...while people are dancing in the streets of Beirut. Lets stick together in the face of this madness. love michael
