Here in The Netherlands, we have just observed 3 minutes of silence. It had been announced on Radio and TV and many people participated. Cars stopped, work stopped and people stepped outside to stand in silence and send their love and hope into the world. Here in my town, the city of Utrecht, it was extraordinarily quiet for mid-day. When the 3 minutes were over, the bells in the main tower played the Star Spangled Banner.
It is not much, but at the same time was a powerful thing to do.
