Shortly after Gil sent his message to the list on his experience with OS and high conflict situations, I asked Arun Wahklu, who has opened space for Indians, Pakistanis and Kashmiris, what his thoughts were on Gil's message. I did this to continue my learning from as many folks with real experience in this arena as possible.
While I didn't get his response to the list in a timely way, his words struck me as important to share, so they are below. Infact, "Reality" out there, is a projection and manifestation of the Inner Structures and paradigms in the minds of the key players. The more "spacious" and free the inner consciousness of the players, the more likely there is to be movement towards reconciliation and harmony. However, as Gil has rightly pointed out, most players have very restricted, fixed and violent mind sets. Also there are many conflicting "mind structures" in the situation, thereby leading to the mess she has described. Behind and above all these mind structures is Pure Spirit......even in the most dreaded of " terrorists" and "militants" .At the Heart of every living being, is Pure Love. OST in such situations will work only if the facilitators hold this Vision firmly in their Hearts.It will call for enormous Faith.Only then will they be used as instruments of Spirit, which will move things in the direction of Healing, Peace, evolution. If the facilitators are not coming out of an inner space of Love, they should not attempt to tinker around with OST or any other thing in high conflict situations. It could be as dangerous as a mountaineer climbing a mountain without the right equipment, preparedness etc. The intention should be total surrender to the Divine Essence which is the most Open Space, which is the Peace that Passeth undersatnding.
