A colleague, Kent Swinburn, is organizing a workshop on:

TRANSFORMATIVE MEDIATION with the The Institute for the Study of Conflict
Transformation, from New York, the Originators of the Model

on October 17-19 2002 in Ottawa.

>From his explanations, I can see real links with the Open Space approach. It
>builds on people's participation and ownership of their solutions.

I've posted the information bulletin about the workshop in this message. Kent
can provide more information or you can log on to the Institute’s website at

Learn to be a Transformative Mediator from the Originators of the Model.

The Institute for the Study of Conflict Transformation is the nation’s premier
center of expertise on the transformative framework. Its work provides
important resources for the conflict and intervention field and for the public
generally.

The Institute supports and provides a forum for the work of scholars and
practitioners in the conflict intervention field who approach conflict from a
relational or transformative view. This view and its implications for conflict
intervention were first described in The Promise of Mediation by Robert A.
Baruch Bush and Joseph P. Folger, published in 1994. The Institute was founded
in 1999 to study and promote understanding of conflict and intervention
processes from the transformative perspective
