Hi Julie Of course I´ll explain a bit more. For the first day of OST we use computors and a suitable software. The reports are written and put onto the internet (only accessible to the participants). That way the conference and the dialogue can continue in the time until the next physical meeting. New subjects may be raised and those already there may be further discussed and developed. The four principles and the law apply on the internet conference just as in the physical meetings. The space is still open.
I have found some critical technical as well as practical circumstances that I think are important such as: - Using a simple and workable software - Using it already at the physical meeting so that people may try it out and get used to it. - Using "simple" forums instead of threaded makes the overview better. - Those who raise an issue either in the first physical meeting or during the online part take on the responsibility to make a summary one week prior to the next physical meeting. - The possibility for each participant to choose if they want an email for each posting in each subject. So far my experiences have been a bit different from time to time. On some occasions the online activity has been very low on other occasions there has been more activity. In any case the space has been open. Whatever happens... I do think though, that there is more to develop in order to give the participants the best possible opportunity to engage online. We´re working on it! Anyone else who has similair or other experiences, I´d appreciate to hear about that. I think this is a very interesting way to introduce online collaboration, especially in organizations/communities that are spread out geographically. I hope this gives you more of an idea of how I work with this, Julie. Thanks for asking!
