Anne-- I don't make any effort to make perfect drawings, and I don't worry if people laugh at my bumblebees and butterflies--I laughed myself at the last bumblebee--it was so fat that it probably could never fly. Some laugh at the Tibetan chimes, and some scratch their heads over why I am around all day with not much visible to do.
These things make it very clear that this meeting is not "business as usual," and I think a little laughter helps to disperse people's anxiety. I haven't had an opportunity to work with a graphic recorder, but any time I have brought more visual materials to a meeting, it always seems to have an enlivening effect.
