Hi Barry, your post made me recall and look for this famous old Zen
teaching....

...."Attention, attention, attention," wrote Zen master Ikkyu many
centuries ago when asked to write down the highest wisdom. "But what does
attention mean?" asked his questioner. Master Ikkyu replied, "Attention
means attention." Thus, attention cannot be divided into component parts.
It stands whole, and does not easily permit analysis. It is an attitude and
way of being rather than a method or goal.

Perhaps it's just another way of exhorting us to live in the Now...
