I guess I misunderstood you Chris. The invitation is most important, and broadly getting the word out is equally critical. But at the end of the day The Issue is the motivating factor. When you have a real hot one (as determined by potential participants, and not necessarily by yourself) folks will come. And by definition -- whoever shows are the right folks.

Presumably the invitation is another topic. I have had the impression that sometimes you have done quite a lot of work on a white paper (or whatever) so as to stir up invitations and connections across potentially a broad range of perspectives so that the space welcomes the right (diversity of) people? chris From: OSLIST [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Harrison Owen Sent: 12 April 2005 11:08 To: [email protected] Subject: Re: question on open space origins The first time I used Open Space, other than with the International Symposium on Organization Transformation was with Dupont. It involved some 175 polymer chemists on the re-design of a major product line. That was in the summer of 1989. As for pre-work with Open Space, I have never found anything that usefully added much. * * ========================================================== [email protected] ------------------------------ To subscribe, unsubscribe, change your options, view the archives of [email protected]: http://listserv.boisestate.edu/archives/oslist.html To learn about OpenSpaceEmailLists and OSLIST FAQs: http://www.openspaceworld.org/oslist * * ========================================================== [email protected] ------------------------------ To subscribe, unsubscribe, change your options, view the archives of [email protected]: http://listserv.boisestate.edu/archives/oslist.html To learn about OpenSpaceEmailLists and OSLIST FAQs: http://www.openspaceworld.org/oslist
