Hi--

Joelle's poem, , speaks to me to the space in which Katrina survivors find
themselves. I think her words may help.

May Your Grief Blossom

Grief hidden creeps
Like mildew under wallpaper,
Slips between skin and sinew,
Turning the world to gray.

Grief honored blossoms
Like night-blooming cereus,
Pale face of flowers
Amazing the dark.

So weep, keen, howl,
Sing your despair.
As the saxophone wails
Dance the path of your tears.

May you grow
As deep as your sorrow,
Stretch tall
As the reach of your joy.

May your grief blossom
Across the green earth.
