Yes Lise...and the chairs! I have been thinking many times about how the ideal OpenSpac chair could be designed. As you all know, there are an enormous variation of not ideal chairs. I think this chair should be very flexible, with a small small surface you could put a paper on - some people have problems with writing on the floor or in their lap. This surface should be easy to remove. And the chair should be confortable, and not heavy. Cheap and stacking. And beautiful.

Uhm.. What a lovely and challenging question. I bow to it.
Let me try some answers... brainstorming...
- the space could be circular - or with some circle-decoration in the middle of the floor
- lots of small inviting places to stand or to sit all around the space - stairs to sit on, windowsills where you can stand and talk and enjoy the view, café-tables, interesting sculptures to start discussion, places with lots od light and places without that much light like caves..
- something to break our assumptions about space and use of space..
- lots of space
- floating and turbulent water somewhere
- something to be explored..

Thats my ideas for now - interesting issue!

I don't think this made it onto the list for some reason.  Thanks for your co-creative input.

Hi All,

I have a friend who is working with a design group and architect to bring up a state-of-the-art retreat center who asked me,  "If you were designing a space where 75-80 could gather, what design features can you imagine that would enhance an Open Space experience?"

I would love your input!  Thanks.

Christine
