This is a nice idea, but with groups of any size (100+) it becomes counter
productive, if not impossible. Imagine the scene with our current record
holder of 2108 participants if one were to stop for a hand count for 236
discussion groups. We'd still be doing the handcount! But not to worry, it
always seems to work out, and more to the point, finding a reasonable sized
space for those who show up is part and parcel of the responsibility of the
convener. To help them out a bit I always try and have the "main room" free
of groups -- which provides an easy-access space for large groups. Remember:
Think of one more thing NOT to do! And besides, the people will take care of
it all by themselves. At least they always have.
