Harrison, You wrote, "A friend once remarked that the world could be divided between what he called "Theory Folks" and "Practice Folks" - those who like to think about it, and those who prefer to do it." I have an extended version of your friends remark. I see it on a continuum starting with those folks who would rather philosophise, then the "Theory Folks", then a category for "Theory/Practice Folks", then the "Practice Folks" and lastly those who do not have a clue what is going on!
I agree with you that those of us on this list is most probably from the practice side of the continuum. I see myself leaning to the theory side as well. I think that it is kind of logic, some one must make things work out there. I read a very humorous but true article by Marianne Thamm in a woman's magazine about corporate team building exercises, she calls it Corporate Torture. I love her one comment, "You will probably be made to feel awkward about raising any questions about the validity of such exercises or daring to point out that most people who are forced to do them would, if they had the choice, probably opt out." My point - do we not need something that will really work for people where they can be themselves and as you stated organise themselves into a space that works for them and have fun while they doing it!! I think OS provides the environment to really ask those questions. Is it not Aristotle that said: If we no longer ask questions, we'll never learn more, never become more because we won't have new answers to experiment with"? Your previous question on my corner! I am still thinking - I came up with isolation, but discarded it as I think that isolation is self inflicted. I still owe you an answer!
