This may be more effort than you want to go to but once you make the "sticky walls" life is good.

Whenever I work in a space where they are sensitive about damage I put a whole slew of post it flip chart paper across the wall and down the sides and then I can put my sticky wall on the post it paper with masking tape.

What, you ask, is a sticky wall? I use, as do many of my facilitation colleagues, a light-weight fabric called rip stop nylon (sometimes called parachute material) that, in the States, can be purchased at most good-sized fabric stores. It comes in great colors (royal blue, purple, bright red, turquoise and on and on). I buy it in about 10' lengths (really widths) so that if I don't have help putting it up I can still do it by myself (it's about 60" high). I get the sides hemmed so they won't unravel and then spray it with a 3M product called "Spray Mount" (Artists Adhesive) - it comes in a red, white and black can and most office supply stores carry it.

Once you spray it, any paper will stick to it and you can move paper all around on it. (it's sort of like a wall of the sticky part of a post it note). The beauty of this is once you're done, you fold the sticky wall in on itself (sticky side in) and it is very flat and easy to transport. I can put several in my brief case.

Tips: don't over-spray - first time out, (follow directions for distance from the surface), spray across and then up and down for good coverage. I re-spray after 2 or 3 uses, or until paper keeps falling off of it. (Brilliant, huh?) I've had several of my walls for years and years - I try to make sure to not let them touch the floor until I've folded them in on themselves because they pick up all manner of floor debris, e.g., food crumbs, hair and whatever.

Possibly more info and effort than you want but, in the long haul, worth it for me. Have sticky wall will travel!!

Good luck,
Kathleen

It has been very interesting to hear all the creative solutions!
