Jaime
I have used OS extensively with pure police and police/mix groups - and
it always works well! These examples include:
- Helping a new national policing body plan its
first year and more of strategic activities
- Assisting a large metropolitan police force
examine how to challenge gender issues in the workplace
- Debriefing the learning and action planning
for a police force after a simulation on their new organisational
structure
- Working with three police services to help
them to plan how to merge and collaborate on some of their functions
- Working with a mix of police, civil servants,
young people and community leaders to develop plans to tackle gun crime
- Running an event for black and minority ethnic
communities and the police to help them decide how they should work
together in pursuit of in crime reduction
In my experience - police cultures are very 'can do'
and when given the 'rules' of OS - they run with them like wildfire!
What is critical is that the senior officers and managers present give
the right sponsorship and 'permission' to use this methodology. I have
been lucky enough to work with some of the most progressive and
enlightened of police and civil service leaders when setting these
processes up.
Hope this helps!
All the very best
Jon
PS Are you allowed to mention Butch and Sundance?!

Hello dear colleagues,
I am wondering if someone in the list have had an experience
with the Armed Forces or similar vertical/authoritative institution. I
am about to submit a proposal to the Insurance Cooperative of the
Bolivian National Police. One of the main troubles with the working
team is that they are treated as "soldiers" by their bosses. This
situation is reproduced vis-a-vis the cooperative members and the
people that visit the institution.Do you think OS could be useful?
Have my anticipated thanks and warm regards
Jaime
