Subject: Re: WOSonOS 2008 in San Fransisco California USA
Hello Lisa,
Just came back from Kiev and a wonderful WOSonOS.
And looking forward to going to San Francisco. Disclose the dates as
soon as you have them !
We made a list of things to consider when organising WOSonOS's,
most of which I am sure will sound familiar to you. Two additional
things came up later:
Firstly, some of our friends and collegues will face some obstacles
getting to WOSonOS 2008
which citizens from say EU-countries etc do not face. Apart from
financing their participation,
there seems to be a series of considerable hurdles in getting a visum.
I would suggest we find out what hurdles there are, and if there are
any ways we can lower some.
One element in some cases no doubt is an official invitation letter. I
wonder whether it would make
a difference if:
- the purpose of the conference was framed in such a way that
participation of as many countries
as possible would obviously be essential for its success;
- we found persons or organisations whose reputation might make a
difference to back up the initiative ?
Many greetings from an optimist,
Gerard Muller

Dear colleagues –
Thomas and Eva said:
There sure was one irresistible offer made for the 2008 WOSonOS! In
fact the people who joined for the circle to work on the decisions on
future WOSonOS’s almost made the decision before the offer was made.
But after some persuasion they agreed on experiencing the “fantastic”
show from the marvelous production manager (living a bit closer to
Hollywood) Lisa Heft.
For all those who want to host future WOSonOS’s we heard a rumor that
there is a video produced called “How to present an irresistible
WOSonOS-offer” around somewhere...
Some of you were there in Halifax 2005 when I invited WOSonOS to San
Francisco. There is a lovely community of OS practitioners and a
great network of diverse facilitators ready to welcome you here.
Some of you were in Moscow in 2006 when the delightful Wendy Farmer
O’Neil invited the world again, on my behalf (as I was unable to
attend the WOSonOS last year). This year, I asked the Most Amazing
Thomas Herrmann and the Incredibly Fabulous Eva P Svensson to invite
again, on my behalf, as I was unable to join you fabulous folks in
Kiev.
For my invitation this year, I decided to design something totally
interactive which would also show the warmth, energy and depth of my
invitation, and Thomas and Eva did a marvelous job.
I look forward to seeing the video ! perhaps if someone can send me a
copy or a link, we can show that video as the opening of WOSonOS
2008.
Thank you Thomas and Eva for representing me and the local community
of practitioners to invite and welcome you all to WOSonOS 2008 in San
Francisco, California, USA!
(stay..............tuned...................)
And....
The stand in-Access Queen Eva P made great work, of course together
with the generous participants - 105 dollars and 45 EUROS were raised
for the fund which helps people access these marvelous events.
Dear Eva – thank you for holding space for the Global Village
Marketplace and the Silent Auction this year in Kiev. And my warm
thanks to all of you in Kiev who contributed to the Access Queen
Fund. Access Queen is a little project I coordinate which raises
resources (a little bit of money and a lot of other shared resources
like home stays, people buying two registrations to give away one to
an ‘Asker’, ride shares and more) to help people with lower financial
abilities get to the annual WOSonOS. So each year we generate
awareness and resources (thanks to those of you who contributed
funding and other resources this year and good work, Kiev team!!),
each WOSonOS there is a Global Village Marketplace and Silent Auction
in whatever form that may take, and each year, proceeds from the
Auction and Marketplace go towards the next year’s WOSonOS Access
Queen Fund. Often the WOSonOS hosts also donate to the fund after
they cover their expenses for the event. In this way, we help each
other as we share our resources. Feel free to contact me directly if
you would like to contribute anything to the fund (if for example you
sell some of your poetry, or have a jumble sale in your front garden,
or sell lemonade on the sidewalk and contribute the funds to the AQ
fund...). And as part of next year’s registration, we will offer you
opportunities to help others come to the WOSonOS.
Thank you all for your generosity, and your playfulness, and
congratulations on a marvelous WOSonOS 2007!
Lisa (also known as Access Queen)
