This also reminds me of another session at an open space event in
Bristol I ran from one of the members of the performance company
"Lone Twin" which was a very simple naive picture of a sailing boat..
The session was actually about their next project which is an event
where they are inviting people from different places in Norway (I
think) to arrive at one place bringing objects and materials with
them and from whatever people bring they are going to build a boat!
What was interesting was that lots of people came to the session
drawn by the picture not by words... nice :)

Phelim, I laughed out loud when I read this (and when my 12-year
old son asked, what's so funny? and I explained what you'd written,
he thought it was funny, too) -- so your colleague's simple
conscious interjection of fun and delight into an aspect of the
event (and it does seem like Open Spaces provide ample opportunity
for fun and funniness and delight as a matter of course) continues
to bubble and fizz beyond the event itself. Of course I especially
love the prospect of picking out of a bag a space that didn't
actually exist! What could be more open than that?

I've just been reminded and had meant to mention that at our last
open space event Devoted and Disgruntled II people commented that
they had been surprised by sessions they didn't think they would
enjoy which had been rewarding.. as a response to this Alyn Gwndaf
created a Randomiser on the wall which was a means to select sessions
by chance means... so a bag with the different break out spaces in
it.. it even included break out spaces which didnt actually exist..
it was used by a lot of people. Any similar stories of the conscious
(manipulation) :) of chance?
