Cheapest fare from East Coast to SF is JET BLUE, also GOOD service but no food just snacks (bring your own on board.). They fly from JFK to Oakland in East Bay (same side as Berkeley.) Best fares are when you book early, because they vary with bookings and are more expensive closer to the date you fly.
