as for digest confusion, we actually got a taste of that yesterday in your
forwarding of your message, ralph.  <whoops!>  you might be interested in
reading individual messages in gmail, because it will sort them by subject
line.  so rather than digests of days, it assembles digests by subject in
the view you get.  sometimes subject lines change and the thread breaks, but
mostly it serves things up in a way that makes a lot more sense than what
you're getting now.
