Hello everyone,
Just a quick note to thank Scott for organizing last nights Stammtisch, and also to thank the people who came for welcoming me so warmly in NYC. Although a pub is a noisy place here on a Thursday night, we had really interesting conversations. Talked about OS, of course, and several mediation or public conversation organisations or events here in New York. Also about politics and OS. We all shared great info, had good beers or wine and food on the balcony when it became too noisy downstairs, and it was a wonderful evening. Looking forward to the next one! Aug 7th, starts 6 pm, at the Pig'n Whistle Please come and join us on Thursday, August 7th, starting at 6 pm, as the OPEN SPACE community of NYC holds a Stammtisch at the Pig'n Whistle ( <http://pignwhistleon2.com/> http://pignwhistleon2.com/) on 2nd Avenue (between 50th and 51st) in NYC. if the weather is nice, we can sit out on the second floor balcony. If you are traveling from elsewhere and happen to be in or around NYC, please come meet other people who like to work in Open Space! If you are wondering what is a "Stammtisch?" Here's a copy/paste of an explanation of OS Stammtisch Michael M. Pannwitz, of Berlin, Germany, provided a few months back : "A stammtisch is a regular gathering at a regular time (like every Tuesday evening, or once a month or, as is the case with the os stammtische around the planet, every Monday of every odd month at 7pm)where people interested in a particular aspect of life, as for instance open space, gather for beer (other drinks are perfectly ok) and food as everyone wishes and talk with each other about whatever is on top of your mind regarding open space (in a broader sense). People come and go as they find useful, some arrive at 7 pm (I usually even earlier to secure a table and talk to the people in the pub), some as late as 11 pm and it will usually last until well past midnight. No agenda, lots of energy. Last stammtisch in Berlin several people came because they needed work (in os, of course), well, they in fact found others that were looking for help. So its networking, creating collaboration, new ideas are born, people bring stuff for each other to look at (pictures, a couple of books of proceedings from recent open spaces, a bottle of brandy from Kyiv, there are always a couple of laptops to show things to each other and to write an email to another stammtisch lets say in Kyiv or Budapest..). Often, there are also visitors from other countries passing through Berlin that are real open space stammtisch addicts, they have heard of the Berlin one and join. So its international, too." I know Michael let's us know odd month Monday nights would put us in sync with the rest of the OS world, this at least gets us started in NYC talking together about Open Space. Esther Matte, a recent NYC transplant from Quebec and I look forward to meeting whoever comes.
