Hi
Saul Alinksy wrote a seminal book called HANDBOOK FOR RADICALS and
organised the back of the (stock)yards movement in Chicago in the late
1940s. He founded the Industrial Areas Foundation and trained, among
others, Cesar Chavez, who formed the National Farm Workers Union in
California in 1965.
Alinsky's philosophy was to work with whatever issues were considered
important in the Community, not unlike the OS Marketplace. He was
against ideologically driven radicals who had their own agendas.
