The Ancient Ones say that One Day when the World needs it most, the
Sacred Fire will come Home to the People at the Top of the World.
For thousands of years the people in the North fueled their fires
with the oil from the animal world. Animals gave their lives so that
people would have light and warmth. Now the climate is changing and
the trees are standing tall. This July the ancient prophecy, passed
on over thousands of generations will be fulfilled. The Sacred Fire
kindled from wood from Mother Earth will come home.
Thank you to all who have been patiently waiting for details about
the Sacred Fire Ceremony in Greenland this summer.
We now are ready to provide you with all the information.
Some things have changed:
Fundraising efforts for bringing all the 160 Elders Federation of
Greenland to the ceremony were not as successful as envisioned.
Rather than attend with fewer Elders the Elders Federation of
Greenland has decided to withdraw from the Fire & Ice event.
The good news is that the organization of Sirmiq Aattuq - Melting
the Ice in the Heart of Man - will proceed to bring the Sacred Fire
home to the Top of the World - Greenland with a Sacred Fire Ceremony
July 17 -19, 2009.
An Invitation:
There are many ways of participating in this ceremony. Wherever each
one of us may be at the time of the Sacred Fire Ceremony, we will be
able to connect through our hearts, our intention and through
webcasts to each other and to Aasivik, the ancient gathering ground,
site of the Sacred Fire coming home.
We invite you to consider:
Participating in the Greenland Sacred Fire Ceremony:
visit Greenland to participate in this event.
follow the event online including reading stories, sharing photos,
watching video and listening to audio.
send gifts or ashes from your Sacred Fire.
Joining the online Sacred Fire Circle where you can:
support the Sacred Fire Ceremony event in whatever way is right for
you.
participate in your own local Sacred Fire Ceremony in harmony with
the Greenland event.
become part of the network of attendees and supporters.

Participating in the Sacred Fire Ceremony on Greenland:
This new vision asks that participants live by the teaching of the
circle: The Beauty of the Circle is that we cannot see each other’s
Backs and the Strength of the Circle is that we can only see each
other’s Beauty.
Each participant in the Sacred Fire Circle is taking on a task,
sharing talents, gifts, knowledge and wisdom.
The ceremony is being organized by a circle of friends from all over
the world.
To manage this circle in a sustainable way, participant numbers will
be limited, while ensuring international, cross-cultural
participation. As well, to sustainably host the ceremony, the entire
community of attendees will help complete the necessary tasks for
this gathering. Attendees may contribute by helping in the kitchen,
taking care of cleanup, translating, creating webcasts, helping with
logistics, building the site, working with the media, etc...
Fees:
All Greenland Sacred Fire Ceremony participants will be responsible
for their own travel arrangements to Kangerlussuaq, Greenland and
will be camping out on the ancient land where people have gathered
in the summer for centuries. There is nothing there but wilderness.
A registration fee of $1500 US / $1135 Euro will pay for the food,
transportation, kitchen, waste, wood, logistics costs and attendance
by representatives of Greenland Elders, and representatives of
Elders from the four directions.
Not everyone can come but everyone can participate.
