Dear Eva,
my approach, usually successful, is to meet with the sponsor in what I call a "contact meeting", nothing binding and no fee. The purpose of the meeting, mostly less than 1,5 hours, is to air the "business issue" and to have the sponsor mull over the 5 prerequisites for an open space event. He is always able to decide for himself whether OST is the right thing after having reflected on the business issue and the prerequisites. If he decides for a go more often than not he expands the time for the OST part or even decides to to the whole thing in OST (sometimes that is not possible for the event at hand because planning has gone too far but next time...I had a pretty amazing event come my way in that manner for catholic singles in Austria). Usually, I also have a suggestion for the 1,5 hours he had "left over" for an OST "event" ... in the case with the catholic singles I suggested that they could just have a big break with wine and cheese.
Have a great time!

Hello!
I have been asked to do an Open Space with about 800 people. That’s great –
BUT as it’s looks right now – there will only be 1,5 hours timeframe for the
entire thing……

What do you think about that? Would you recommend to go for it – what would
you do????

I know I have done a taster on OS in 1,5 hour with 100 people and it went
well – but 800…

What would you do?

Sunny warm greetings from Sweden

:o)

Eva
