Didnt follow this thread fully but just came to think of something important when it comes to young people and Open Space. I usually recommend free coffee and something to eat. But free cookies may not be the way to go. One 3rd grader (9 yrs old)had to go home at lunch because his stomach ached...
Another story. Once in a closing circle in an OS with politicians and youth/teenagers both said the same thing actually I noticed that it is possible to have a good conversation with a politician/a teenager... Thats what I call high learning. One thing to keep in mind is that us up here in the adult world can sometimes think of young people as a "constituancy" or group. Young people I have worked with remind me to not think of young people as a single group. We dont approach working with adults that way, ie "i will be working with adults..how should I approach this." Having said that I a few hobbit tricks, lots of snacks big harvest wall with open opportunity for everyone and anyone to "tag" it in anyway they like. Have a little video camera on a lap top and if possilbe let they leave a video response to ....? the event, a question you have posed at the station?....this can be a real buzz and something to feed live, or capture or whatever you think.
