Short answer -- yes. My favorite was a 2 1/2 day strategic planning effort for our (US) Immigration and Naturalization Service. Yu got it -- The Border Gestapo! Ex military all! When we started and they found themselves sitting in a circle, the comments would make most people blush, but by the end all that had been forgotten. One guy came up to me the end and said something like -- "I have been in the Service for 20 years and a Regional Director for the past ten. This gathering is without doubt the most productive one I have ever been a part of. Even worse, it was fun." Works just like usual.

There is a concern amongst the rank and File that too much "openness" on their part will result in Consequences. I was challenged as to whether I had ever done one in the "para- Military" environment of a police force. I have not. Has anyone else out there done an open space with a police force? If, so Were there any problems related to the nature of the organization? Any advice that could sooth there concerns or just the fact that it had been done would be of use to me. I have met with the management team and talked about the importance Of the space being safe and respectful and that they needed to check Their egos at the door. I am confident that they are ready to do That. * * ========================================================== osl...@listserv.boisestate.edu ------------------------------ To subscribe, unsubscribe, change your options, view the archives of osl...@listserv.boisestate.edu: http://listserv.boisestate.edu/archives/oslist.html To learn about OpenSpaceEmailLists and OSLIST FAQs: http://www.openspaceworld.org/oslist * * ========================================================== osl...@listserv.boisestate.edu ------------------------------ To subscribe, unsubscribe, change your options, view the archives of osl...@listserv.boisestate.edu: http://listserv.boisestate.edu/archives/oslist.html To learn about OpenSpaceEmailLists and OSLIST FAQs: http://www.openspaceworld.org/oslist
