How very lucky that fate brought me to Phoenix on the day that this event was taking place. Like many of you, I know we were all holding space for Christine as she had asked us to do. As she stood there in those first moments slowly walking the circle, I could feel a worldwide community behind her and through her.
Her words, carefully chosen and spoken in such a warm and natural way, truly connected with the audience and certainly set the stage for many meaningful conversations. Without missing a beat, she navigated through a few delays (late lunch and some people stuck in the elevator) with grace and a terrific sense of humor in the spirit of "Whatever happens happens". Being there, feeling the energy in the room, hearing Christine, meeting her husband, listening to a powerfully igniting poem at the beginning, noticing the many volunteers, watching the young leader Girl Scouts and many budding artists with masks and capes wearing their artistic selves with mission and pride along with the very large and diverse group of adults--it was totally terrific. The two rounds of conversation culminated with brief reports followed by a commitment to action on a number of topic with some folks taking the lead based on their personal passion and others joining them on those initiatives. A lot happened in one afternoon In the most simple way, I can say that this felt like a momentous event with s even more so considering the election period we're in and knowing how polarized it has seemed in Arizona at least for many of us observing from afar. Well all I can say is that I met many great people today plus I had the chance to witness a wonderful role model in action which will certainly help me this weekend when I open space for some Scrum folks and others who want to explore possibilities for Scrum beyond software.
