Has it ever happened where you know that the most amazing conversation is going on (i.e. The 5th Principle) but in that moment you are choosing not to be part? Here and there you catch a word, a phrase, a thought or a concept. You’re excited because you know that later you’ll get a chance to engage or not engage. Indeed the postings on the OS list will always be there waiting so that you can pour yourself into the depth of those discussions. In the meantime, you feel the vibes and the energy as if you were actively participating. That energy is in fact infusing itself into your own conversations and you experience a warm glow from those dynamic exchanges. In that moment you feel so very connected. You pause, in awe, knowing that you are in a non local virtual Open Space. A butterfly, who may become a bumble bee?
Here I was travelling from Connecticut through Maine with a new and dear Open Space friend Ralph Fink who will be joining my colleagues and me for our annual Open Space summit in New Brunswick Canada. We had left on our long journey after a delicious breakfast prepared by Clair, Ralph’s wife who I had just met. Yesterday, I was a guest in another home with another new and special Open Space colleague and friend Chuni Li. The two of us have been working with an incredible group preparing a major Open Space event that will take place in mid June in New Jersey. Again I am in awe because the Li family has welcomed me like family on more than one occasion. Yes I revel in these new found friendships and the purposeful work that is emerging-- friendships and projects that would never have happened had it not been for Open Space which we are all so very passionate about. And then I read Christine Whitney Sanchez’s note inviting us to check out the upcoming OS event called: Vibrant Phoenix. So in the scheme of things, I conclude that space is being opened on a small scale and a much larger scale, each important and significant in their own way. And what I marvel at also is how connected we all are, directly and indirectly.
