Thanks Suzanne.

The two-day Creative Monmouthconvening ended beautifully yesterday. Pouring
rain, flooded roads, and confusing parking lots didn't dampen the spirit of the
participants Monday morning. By the time we parted on Tuesday afternoon, the
sun came out and everyone left with a big smile on their face.

It was the inaugural community-based convening after the state-wide Creative
New Jersey convening that took place last June. Following the Monmouth County
convening, approximately 10 more similar events will take place in the next 12
months throughout the state, all aimed to bring cross-sector people together to
address the question: "How Can Creativity and Innovation Revitalize New
Jersey?" We will do this from the grass roots one community at a time.

I am not the facilitator; rather I serve on the Creative New Jersey Steering
Committee and provide guidance and coaching to the local planning teams. Each
local event should be relatively self-sufficient.  This model would not be
possible without members of the Steering Committee having experienced the
state-wide convening that Suzanne and I helped put together last year, along
with the mini-guide and various notes that Suzanne graciously developed for
Creative New Jersey. On behalf of Creative New Jersey and all the future local
convenings, thank you Suzanne for the generous gift!

It was obvious after Day 1 that people wanted to get on with action as topics
and discussions quickly converged (roughly 80 people with 21 breakout
discussions). I am so grateful for the guidance Diane Gibeault provided on
action planning. The half-day design worked beautifully. 6 action plans were
created and people expressed confidence and hope during the closing circle.

At closing circle, Suzanne, we made sure that the facilitator sit down with the
crowd. As we passed the mic around, we asked each person to say one word (or
more if they're so inclined) that came to their minds with respect to the Open
Space experience. I learned this technique from Harrison and it is such a
energy booster that allows the group to break on a high note.

Thank you all for being so supportive and the wisdom you share everyday on
OSList.

Chuni Li

Subject: [OSList] The Creative New Jersey Sequel happening today

It's happening NOW and based on the twitters, it's on fire with lots of
passion, energy, and action-packed ideas! Check it our on twitter at
#creativenj and #creativemon.

Hats off to our friend and colleague Chuni Li. She was a shining light igniting
this 2-day follow-up event with others. Taking place in her community, Monmouth
county;
it's a reopening of space from last year's event "Creativity + Innovation to
Revitalize New Jersey".
