Hola Jaime, como estás? I share with you our experience with family businesses, using OS: It was an event with 200 people (all members of family businesses, property owners, -parent-child-brothers, etc- and employees, direct and indirect suppliers, etc. It was only 4 hours, about raising awareness on the links in the family business
Here a little video with the audiovisual record of the meeting. The audio is taken from some comments of the closing circle http://youtu.be/Vi7nPXPmBe8 And from here you can see online the document with the all topics (43 issue) and the main points of each conversation (15) http://issuu.com/conversacionesparatodos/docs/vinculos All is only in Spanish without tranlation. ) It was an intergenerational, cross-sectoral dialogue...It was great! I have no specific experience in succession planning through OST, but since my intuition would say that the relevance of making one or two groups would be given to “clarify the purpose of the meeting”. What would like to achieve with this event? According to the stage of the process in which they are, I feel that it would be very powerful to get involved to the entire system, to invite the divergence and then from there to see other instances of convergence with more focused groups. If you want, we can continue the conversation about that in Spanish outside the OSLIST. Aquí estoy dispuesta a compartir y aprender de tus descubrimientos. Abrazos from Argentina! And the little I do know about succession planning tells me that the waters are often troubled. So I would guess you have a match. One thought would be to work with the largest group of concerned (caring) people that will accept the invitation to join the circle. That might include employees and others who have a legitimate connection. They may not be family, but often such people are almost closer than family and can provide different and "linking" points of view -- especially if the family itself is in some disarray. ho Harrison Owen 7808 River Falls Dr. Potomac, MD 20854 USA 189 Beaucaire Ave. (summer) Camden, Maine 04843 Phone 301-365-2093 (summer) 207-763-3261 www.openspaceworld.com www.ho-image.com (Personal Website) To subscribe, unsubscribe, change your options, view the archives of OSLIST Go to:http://lists.openspacetech.org/listinfo.cgi/oslist-openspacetech.org -----Original Message----- From: oslist-boun...@lists.openspacetech.org [mailto:oslist-boun...@lists.openspacetech.org] On Behalf Of Jaime Pedreros Sent: Sunday, January 13, 2013 12:22 PM To: oslist@lists.openspacetech.org Subject: [OSList] (no subject) Dear OST list, First of all, a great hug to all of you wishing an excellent year, plenty of success and new experiences in the ever fascinating world of Open Space. I have been working in the design of a training seminar about the succession process within the family business environment. To my surprise, I have found that a lot of research have been done, especially in the management of the so called "family component" which, different from the technical set of circumstances (taxation, valuation, estate, accounting, etc.) involves a myriad of human relations and family dynamics topics. Most practitioners in facilitating/counseling the management of the "family component" recommend the conformation of two groups: one with the directly involved family members and a second one with the extended family (which might include key employees) in order to develop a plan and conduct the subsequent process through formal and informal gatherings and meetings. I am sure that most of you have a coincident feeling about the possibility of using OST to conduct these meetings and am also sure that some of you have worked in succession processes. Please let me know about some past experiences in this field. I will we more than pleased to share my findings with you. Best regards from rainy and also warm La Paz Jaime _______________________________________________ OSList mailing list To post send emails to OSList@lists.openspacetech.org To unsubscribe send an email to oslist-le...@lists.openspacetech.org To subscribe or manage your subscription click below: http://lists.openspacetech.org/listinfo.cgi/oslist-openspacetech.org _______________________________________________ OSList mailing list To post send emails to OSList@lists.openspacetech.org To unsubscribe send an email to oslist-le...@lists.openspacetech.org To subscribe or manage your subscription click below: http://lists.openspacetech.org/listinfo.cgi/oslist-openspacetech.org
