Ron, thanks for posting about FAST using Open Space. I apologize for omitting you and FAST in my thinking! FAST implements Agile in an Agile way, using Open Space. And of course the more FAST gets discussed and used, the more Open Space inside Agile implementations we can expect to see. Which is absolutely great. Sorry Ron!

Hi Kim.

I had a similar Eureka moment to you in thinking of a link between agile and OST. Specifically around the scaling issues that you hit with Scrum. It was during an Open Space at a Scrum Gathering conference a few years back when the idea/realization hit me - OST is such a fantastic tool for self-organization at scale! Eureka - why not use OST as a mechanism for the organization of work across multiple teams!?! And from this thought I built FAST Agile <http://fast-agile.com>. FAST stands for Fast Agile Scaled Technology. The Technology portion refers to Open Space Technology and is the marriage of agile and OST.

My background is a software developer, development manager and agile coach. I have been in the agile space since 2002. Through seeing how scrum has being implemented at many locations, I don't believe we have solved the scaling issues of agile and Scrum in particular. Which drove me to create FAST.

Have a look at the website. I'd love to hear your thoughts. It's early days for FAST and the site is still in Minimal Viable Product state.

Daniel Mezick has posted about Open Space Agile and the two systems can co-exist. In fact I would recommend using Daniel's OSA process as a way to invite an organization to consider FAST (as opposed to having it forced upon them).

Kind Regards

Hello everyone, I have recently come across the 'Agile
manifesto' and use of 'SCRUM' in software development. There are
many parallels and connections with Open Space and I am wondering
if anyone has any experience in using OST within an 'agile'
approach? This may all sound bewildering (I have benefited from
googling these terms and am very excited about the potential fit
of OST in enabling these processes). I would love to hear any
experience that may be out there in this field. Stories?
    With thanks,
