anddirectivepowerintheformofknowledge,politicalengagementand/capacitiesdevelopment/canassistinprovidingtheacceleratedyetcomprehensiveresponsetothecrisis.By“capacitiesdevelopment”wemeanthattheindividualasworker,entrepreneur,banker,renter,consumer,user,voter,monitoretc.Wealsomeanreflectivedeliberationbythepubliconinformationnecessaryforguidingdemocraticpracticeandpracticalsolutions.Wewilllinkexperts,policymakers,activists
and diverse constituencygroups
inaglobaldiscussiononhowtoaddressfiveinterconnectedaspectsofthecoronaviruscrisis.Amulti-hourinteractivebroadcastwillshowhowhealth,environmental,labor,peaceandinnovationpoliciescanbelinkedonalocal,regional,
nationalandglobal basis, departingfromfivekeythemes:
●First,*alternative****landuse,foodandfarmingpolicies*whichwouldhelplimitormitigatefutureviruscrises.Thebasicgoalistoreducetheerosionofnaturalenvironmentswhichproducegreaterexposuretowildanimalsthatareviruscarriers.
●Second,*conversion****and****innovation****policies***buildonadiversityofinnovationandproductionplatformswhichcanbe
usedtodevelopproductslikedefensiveshields,facemasksandventilatorsoralternativeenergyandmasstransitalternativetofossilfueluse.Weneedapeacebudgettofundalternatives.
●Third,*alternative****platforms****forgovernmentaiddistribution*potentiallyinvolveemployeeandcommunityownershipaswellasothermeasuresincluding:nationalization,rentstrikes,communityfoodmobilizationandmortgagedeferments.
●Fourth,*“**social****forecasting,**”***atermthatcanbe usedtodescribe
thenecessitytobridge
specializedknowledgeaboutthreats(liketerrorism,climatechange,lifethreateningvirusesandthelike)toanetworkthatlinksdiverseandgeneralpublicstospecializedexpertise.
●Fifth,*thepermanentmobilizationofcitizensintheworkplace,politicalspacesandmedia*,creatingaglobalmedianetworkthatcansupportcitizenactionslikecooperatives,strikes,andacooperativemediaspace.
