Danielle hits the nail on the head; it is "..... while we're *not at home* ..." that Osmand+ is most useful. Do people really finalise their entire route from the convenience of their desk at home? Osmand+ enables us to enjoy the spontaneity of amending our route whilst on the road, *away from home*. Thus, route elevation profile computed within Osmand+ could be a real benefit (always assuming it does not overload the app).
