I also see extremely slow download of map updates when doing the updates via the app on the phone. As someone else suggested, the downloads are much faster if done on a PC:
1. Go to the web page http://download.osmand.net/rawindexes/ 2. Download the maps you want 3. Unzip the OBF files, and rename them to remove the "_2" from the end of the filename 4.
