Hi,

I don't want to speak for the developers, but I'm sure you're welcome to 
use the app. The Red Cross have used it extensively in West Africa and 
mapped over 600 km of missing roads as a result.

If you want to use updated maps, generate an extract for the area you're 
interested in:
http://extract.bbbike.org/

Scroll down in the "Format" list and select "Osmand (OBF)" under "Android".

You can then copy the generated file to OsmAnd's directory on your phones.
