Hi. I have the same question. I think that osmand developers make that change to avoid high battery consumption. But actually that may cause to it, if I'm using navigation on offline mode, each time I need to check my position, it takes long time to positioning (without internet). And all this time (sometimes few minutes) - display should be on.
