When I do so, the previous waypoints have not been deleted. The calculated road then goes past the previous waypoints. I have tot delete them one at a time.

But if you mark a new destination, OsmAnd will calculate it afresh, with your previous waypoints deleted. That will pretty much clear everything and let you start over.
