Something strange happened to me too. I had been occasionally using OsmAnd and OsmAnd+ on my old phone and few monts ago I transferred it to my new on (Android 7 Huawei). At the beginning of August I found a threathening pop-up saying that OsmAnd contained a virus and offering the option to ignore or uninstall. Needless to say i uninstalled. After a few days I got a fresh copy from Google Play, which again elicited that same pop up. This time I braved it and started using it, any way with full satisfaction, until August 15, when I decided to record a GPX track. After a few hours the screen started exhibiting strange vertical colored stripes and, during th following day, the display washed out as to be almost illegible. Next morning it was black and there was no way to resuscitate the phone. I sent it to a repair center and got a new one on which I have not yet dared to install OsmAnd.
I am not automatically assuming it was the culprit, but I think there is room for some suspicion, given, among other things, the date coincidence with what deadmanw.... experienced. I am still waiting the response of the official repair center to which I sent the dead device (it still was under warranty) and when that comes in we hopefully will know more. In the meantime did you have any other notice of similar episodes? Is there a trusted source for a new installation?
