Jan - Yes it does work, mostly.
80% OK. 20% not.

First the 80% good. - Detailed explanation in case it helps anyone else.
Closed down OsmAnd.
Got the GPXR08.render file from this topic, above, date 12/30/14. (Now
archived in my PC for future convenience).
Copied it (using USB wire in this instance) into Android device at
"SdCArd\Android\data\net.osmand.plus\files\Rendering"
Opened OsmAnd.
In Menu (bottom left of screen), went to Configure map, Map rendering, Map
style, Selected GPXR08
Plotted a route. Dotted line appears. Eureka!
It seems necessary (though boring) to repeat the "Configure map" routine
for each map style (Car, Bike, etc)

Now the 20% not good.
Nautical map view shows nautical features, eg buoys, seamarks, lock gates,
etc.
I'd previously added the "Nautical" icon to the options alongside Bike,
Pedestrian, etc, and it functions correctly.
To show "Nautical" you have to select that icon on the map screen.
Following your instructions of 31/8/16, I've tried various permutations of
file names. ie, renamed Default to exDefault, renamed Nautical to
Default. In each case I re-started OsmAnd, and then tried various
permutations of settings of "Menu, Configure Map, etc.
I'm able to show the Dotted Route Line, but not whilst showing nautical
features.

Questions:-
For convenience of finding the GPRX file, will it function if it is given a
more memorable name, eg "DottedRouteLine"? (Easier to find in the
"Configure map" routine.)
To show dotted line in conjunction with nautical features, will it be
necessary to merge GPRXxx and Nautical?
If so, how?
Or could there be another way?

Thank you
Paul W
