Thanks for the responses,   

I am letting the app download the basic local and world overview maps 
during installation, I have no idea if these maps are a work in progress 
or the same as the default maps downloaded by the released version on 
playstore, I had kind of expected the later, but now you have me wondering.

Is there a stable map repository I should configure ?
