Newer Android versions also often need the affected application to be
excluded from power management optimization.
( E.g. Stamina exception for Sony devices )
This is frequently adviced for other GPS applications like LocusMap.

with a locked screen, to save battery, then to record a gpx.
Otheriwse I would simply use Oruxmaps which only lacks turn-by-turn
directions, but doesn't lose gps signal.
