Hi,

I would like to add custom areas to OsmAnd. The areas are (for example) the
Swedish "Natura 2000" areas and Swedish "Riksintressen" areas. These areas
are available as Shapefiles from the authority administering them. I have
used ogr2osm to convert them to .osm files, and then am trying to use
OsmAndMapCreator to convert them to .obf files. This seems to work. I need
to create a new XXXrenderer.xml for my phone. The areas need to be
semi-transparent and on top of each other, one type of area on top of each
other. While converting the files using ogr2osm, I have defined
translators, so they will the following tags (among others):

For Natura 2000 areas:
  boundary = "protected_area"
  protect_class = "97"
  name = "Custom name 1"

For Riksintressen:
  boundary = "protected_area"
  protection_title = "Riksintresse"
  name = "Custom name 2"

Questions:
1. While converting using OsmAndMapCreator, do I need to have a custom
render.xml file with my new definitions included? If so, could you please
suggest where to place them, and how they would look like?

2. For the phone, I intend to use a renderer based on
Depends-template.render.xml. How would that look like? Will it be the same
definitions I add to my custom render.xml?

3. As I mentioned above, I would like the areas semi-transparent, on top of
each other, probably below roads but above other kinds of areas.

4. Extra credit for having the "name" inside each area, and maybe on the
borders as well.

Any information greatly appreciated!

(I admit that I got his half-working using the old style of rendering.xml.
However, I do not know how to make it work using the new style. I also seem
to have lost my notes from that time.)

regards
    Thorn T
