When you follow a GPX, OsmAnd notes the curves. Whereas when you create a 
route from within OsmAnd itself, the app will give you road-oriented, 
turn-by-turn navigation.  This video shows how this is done using hiking 
trails, but the same idea applies to navigating

To get the map to rotate as you move, see  settings/Map orientation.
