The default batch.xml file has empty values for mapZooms and zoonWaySmoothness:
<process_attributes mapZooms="" renderingTypesFile=""
zoomWaySmoothness=""
osmDbDialect="sqlite" mapDbDialect="sqlite"/>
If you use these same settings in your batch.xml, do you still see a
significant difference in size?
