This is not really a question. Just an observation. I finally downloaded
and am learning
to use osmconvert, osmfilter, ... What a nice set of tools we have
available for OsmAnd!
Been using OsmAnd as my daily nav app. I'm continually blown away how well
it works and
the detail of the maps.

I used osmconvert, osmfilter, osmcreater to create an obf that only
contains high level roads
for the state of Florida.

osmfilter -v fl_roads.osm --keep="highway=motorway =trunk =primary
=secondary =tertiary =unclassified =road =*_link" >fl_roads_smale.osm
Then osmconvert to get pbf.
then osmcreater to get obf.

The new obf was only 30 Meg instead of 419 Meg. I can compute 600 mile
routes in seconds.
I call this global/coarse routing. But it gets me within a few miles of my
intended destination.
When I near the destination I switch back to the 419 Meg obf for fine/local
navigation. But this is
also very fast since I'm now only a few miles away from my destination. No
more long route calculation
times!

God I love OsmAnd and the rich tool set available.
Now I can route across entire states in a matter of seconds.
I may create a usa.obf that only contains the roads as specified in the
osmfilter I show
above. But I've only got a laptop with 8Gig of ram so I am a little bit (no
pun intended)
compute challenged.

Keep up the good work.
Will let you know what happens.
Kevin
